Doug and I were horrified by the death of George Floyd last week. The incident is simply incomprehensible, and it shines a light on the many ways in which racism is alive. Like many others, but particularly as a workplace tool that aims to champion diversity and personal expression, we paused to think about how we could use our platform to enable justice and equality.
We want to express our solidarity and support. For hundreds of years, Black people have felt unsafe in their own skin. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery are just a few of the far too many lives lost unjustly. People of color have fewer rights, less safety, and fewer opportunities; Black people are extremely underrepresented in technology, particularly at the executive and board levels. We must do more.
In addition, we've added an "I can't breathe" face mask option to Pragli avatars. Doug and I will be wearing one on our avatars for the foreseeable future. We hope employees will use this mask to express solidarity in their own workplaces.
Let's stand up against racism. Black lives matter.
