Introducing: Spatial Rooms

Introducing: Spatial Rooms

Traditional conferencing can feel unnatural. You have to sit in one place and stare at a bunch of people, all of whom can hear everyone else perfectly. It's not the same as being in a room, where multiple side conversations can emerge, or a party, where people "make the rounds."

To solve this problem, we've released an experimental new room type: spatial rooms. Spatial rooms are rooms where you can walk around on a map and you can only hear and see people who are near you.

How do they work?

First, create a new spatial room in Pragli - just follow the normal new room flow and choose the "spatial" room type, selecting which map you want for yourself.

Then, click into it per usual. You'll see yourself on a map!

Use the arrow keys to walk around the map. Hover over your avatar in the top left to mute or turn on video.

As you get closer to people, their audio / video will become more clear. Once you're about 6 avatars away from someone, you'll no longer be able to see or hear them.

Spatial rooms are not yet available on mobile (iPhone / iPad / Android), and they support up to 24 concurrent participants.

Let us know your feedback

The goal of spatial rooms is to create a more natural space for team socials and other meetings. This is our first stab, and we're curious what we can do better. Please let us know in the Pragli community or by reaching out via the support chat.

What is Pragli?
